The Greene County supervisors approved the secondary roads Iowa Department of Transportation 5-year plan as presented by county engineer Wade Weiss.
The plan includes the current fiscal year, which ends June 30, 2026. Project this year total $11.7 million, with $11.3 million of that coming to the county as farm-to-market funds. Cost of the resurfacing project on County Roads P-46 and E-26 was $10.5 million. A pair of bridges were replaced – one on Parkland Ave at a cost of $800,000 and one on X Ave and a cost of $400,000.
Those projects account for more than half the cost in the entire 5-year plan, which tallies at $19.35 million.
Bridge replacement is the larger portion of the plan for FY 27 (ending June 30, 2027). A bridge on E-26 will be replaced at a cost of $900,000, and a bridge on E-57 over Snake Creek near Rippey will be replaced at a cost of $600,000. Also in the plan is rehabbing a bridge on E-26 over W. Buttricks Creek at a cost of $400,000 and pavement markings at various locations totaling $150,000.
Total cost for the projects planned for FY27 is $3.05 million.
Projects planned for FY28 total $1.3 million. On the docket is the replacement of the bridge on County Road E-57 over Willow Creek at a cost of $900,000 and rehabilitation of a bridge on 230th St at a cost of $400,000.
On the plan for FY29 are rehabilitation of a bridge on County Road E-63 with a $450,000 price tag and rehabilitation of a bridge on County Road P-14 at a cost of $350,000.
The last year of the plan, FY30, calls for countywide patching at a cost of $1.5 million.
